Postings and Movements of 561013 C.C. Harper (Wally)

RAF 1937 - 1940

South Cerney - Hendon - Halton - Mildenhall - Uxbridge

Very little information is available from this period, there are no photographs just a handwritten log of movements and a certificate of a mention in despatches. His reconstituted flying log mentions Bristol Blenheim and Vickers Wellington in 1938 and 1940 respectively on the Aircraft in Which Flown page. However there is no log of the actual dates and times of the flights in these aircraft. I presume that the information was not to hand when the log was reconstituted in Bermuda after loss of the log in the water loop and write off of Catalina W8430 at Elizabeth City on 31 January 1943.

South Cerney  -  15 December 1937  -  8 July 1938
Hendon   -    8 July 1938  -  30 March 1939
Halton   -   30 March 1939  -  12 October 1939
Mildenhall   -   12 October 1939  -  26 December 1940
Uxbridge   -   26 December 1940  -  2 January 1941

From Uxbridge he travelled to Liverpool and crossed the Atlantic on  RMS Nerisia to Halifax Nova Scotia making his way to San Diego by rail via Montreal on CNR, CPR, SANTA FE TRAILWAYS.
